Unboxing “The Campaign and Battle of Manzikert, 1071”

A bit of the “materialistic” side, since it is not a book review perse. I had promised to the author that I would purchase the book, as you can hear/see in the interview below, unaware of its… uncommon price, knowing that the content would definitely compensate.

I received it today and decided to “seed” the content of this blog with some unboxing photos.

  1. The parcel:
parcel
  1. The book:
small dent

There is a small dent on the top right corner of the book, something not welcome at this price point.

  1. The pages:
high quality paper and print.

High quality paper and print.

  1. A page with a map:
maps and illustrations

What I really like about Theotokis’ books is always how the maps and illustrations are integrated into the text. After reading his “20 Battles…” book, I tend to find every other historian’s book sub-par.

  1. Next in line:
next book to read

… where the book is the next historic one to read, with the current position taken from my grandparent, Herodotus, whose fifth book I am currently reading.

Interview with the Author (in Greek)

A discussion about about the book and the battle of Manzikert with the author, Georgios Theotokis. The interview is in Greek.
